Meißner-Ochsenfeld

2017, steel, wood, enamel paint
H 51 x W 47.5 x D 34.5 cm
From the series “Scientific Models”

The sculpture shows a model of the Meissner effect as seen on superconductors.
It shows a three-dimensional field diagram of a superconductor in the Meissner state inside an ideal system; a spherical superconductor below its critical temperature, inside a uniform magnetic field. The superconductor inside the illustrated field is not visible, but indirectly  displayed through the deflection of the field lines.
